Road from M6 Junction 36 (16.0 miles)

Follow the A590/A591 to Windermere, turn left at the Windermere Hotel signposted Bowness. Go through Windermere village keeping on this road (B5074) then take the 3rd road on left after police station (Biskey Howe Road) Elim House is the 1st house on the left. There are no restrictions on parking on Biskey Howe Road. We have our own private parking which is on a 1st come 1st served basis.

Train from Windermere Station (1.1 miles)

Turn left out of the station and keep to the left following the road through the village. Keep on this road (B5074) going downhill for about 1 mile, looking out for the police station on your left. Biskey Howe road is the 3rd road on the left past the police station. Elim House is the 1st house on the left.

Road from Ambleside (4.0 miles)

Follow the A590 towards Windermere, go past the Lakes school (right hand side) and the Sun Inn (left hand side) and about a half mile further on turn right at the mini roundabout (signposted Bowness). Follow this road until you see the John Peel pub on your right then take the left fork at the mini roundabout. Go up the hill looking out for the cinema on the left, then take the 3rd road on the right (Biskey Howe Road). Elim House is the 1st house on the left.

Bus from Railway Station (1.1 miles)

The bus station is outside the train station. Buses to Bowness are 6 and 599 (open top). Alight at Royalty Cinema. Walk back up the hill to Biskey Howe Road. Elim House is the 1st house on the left.

Do you serve breakfast?
No, but there are lots of places to eat and drink nearby.
Are there many places to eat and drink nearby?
There are a large number of pubs and restaurants from 200 yards away to a 10 minutes’ walk. These include Grills, Italian, Indian, Oriental, Tapas, Pub food and many more. Nearby there are a number of fine dining restaurants, including 2 with a Michelin star.
Can you take a cruise on Lake Windermere?
Windermere Cruises operate frequent cruises on the lake, north to Ambleside and south to Lakeside. Lakeside also gives you access to a steam train and motor museum. See https://www.windermere-lakecruises.co.uk for more info. You can also hire self-drive boats.
Can you hire a bike nearby?
